"Love of the week": Cetaphil Cream

If you have dry and sensitive skin like me, and are looking for a non-greasy, fragrance-free, basic moisturizer, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is an excellent product.

I use it to moisturize my face, hands, feet, elbows and knees—anywhere that requires intensive moisturizing. Dermatologists have been recommending Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream to help alleviate dry skin associated with eczema and psoriasis for over 20 years.

The cream is rich and thick, and super-emollient. After I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser, I apply about a dime size of the cream to my face. It spreads and absorbs wonderfully and my skin is immediately silky-smooth. By morning it gets rid of dry skin on my face and body.

How much does it cost? It retails for $13.49 at CVS.com. CVS also has their version of this cream, that retails for $10.49. The CVS one is called "CVS Moisturizing Cream Dry Sensitive Skin". The ingredients are similar, but in my humble opinion, I would spend a bit more and get Cetaphil's formula.

Ingredients: Water, Petrolatum, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, PEG-30 Glyceryl Stearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethiconol, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol.

What is your favorite moisturizer? Have you use the Cetaphil cream? If yes, did you like it?

Love of the week: MAC Full Coverage Foundation

I use this product in shade C40.

Description from macpro.com:
A smooth-to-apply, easy-to-blend, emollient-based foundation formulated to provide opaque coverage. Full Coverage Foundation was developed for the professional makeup artist who wanted an emollient-based foundation with opaque coverage. Water-resistant and long-wearing, it can cover most scars, blemishes and birthmarks. This easy-to-blend cream cake formulation is available in a wide range of colors. Coverage can range from sheer to opaque.

How to apply this product?
Achieve sheer coverage by applying a small amount of the foundation using a moist sponge. For opaque coverage apply the foundation using a dry sponge and a stippling motion. Compatible with latex and other synthetics used in special effects makeup, it can be used on the face and body.

Where can I buy this product?
While this product is only available at MAC PRO stores, you dont need a PRO card to buy PRO products. (By the way, you qualify for a PRO card if you are a makeup artist etc. and you get 30-40% off). I found this beautiful matte-ish eye makeup that was done on Kim Kardasian, and I had to try it out..

My attempt to dupe the above look:

  • Middle of the lid: MAC Rule
  • Outer V and crease: MAC Texture
  • Intensify the crease and outer V: MAC Saddle

Love of the week: M2 HP Skin Refinish

I have been using an AHA treatment for the past 1 month. While I have been loving the results, I wanted to wait for a significant period to try it out before I YELLED about how much I LOVE IT!!

The lotion is called M2 HP Skin Refinish (it was previously called Mama Lotion).

The website claims that I should see the following:

1. Within a month of using the M2 Collection:
a) you will see a significant improvement in the clarity and color of your skin.
HUGE YES!!

b) Pigmented areas will be greatly improved
Not seeing any improvement here :(

c) The overall texture of your skin will be softer and smoother.
HUGE YES!!

2. Within two months of use, you will also notice a significant decrease in the number of blemishes. If you are still breaking out, you will find that the blemishes will be greatly reduced in size—and the marks they leave behind will vanish even faster than before. Dark pigmented areas on the body will start to peel and will leave behind smooth, flawless skin.

After I use it for another month, I will update the post to tell you know if I experienced the above.

How do I use M2?
In the evening, I apply a peas size amount to clean, dry skin. I wait 10-15 mins after washing my face. I wait another 15 minutes before applying moisturizer.

For the first 2 weeks, I used it every other night. (Note: If irritation or excess flaking occurs, decrease frequency of application or buffer it with moisturiser, meaning apply moisturiser firt and then the treatment)

VERY IMPORTANT: You MUST MUST MUST use sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 daily, else your skin will darken.

Ingredients (from their website):
Water, Mandelic Acid, Malic Acid, Algae Extract, PEG-8/SMDI Copolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Polysorbate 60, Isohexadecane, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ubiquinone, Hyaluronic Acid, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Squalane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polyacrylate, Dimethicone, Tetrasodium EDTA
